The climate is calling. Citizens are answering.

Climate Calling is a community-led organization confronting the climate emergency — in India and across the world. We are a global network of active citizens standing up to those who treat our planet as expendable.

Why we exist

The crisis is real, it is here, and it is being treated as someone else's problem.

Floods, heat, failing harvests, poisoned air. Meanwhile, the people with the power to act delay, deny, and protect profit over people.

Climate Calling exists because change will not be handed to us — it has to be organized. We believe the most powerful force against the climate crisis isn't a boardroom or a summit. It's an active citizen who refuses to look away, multiplied by a global network that refuses to let them stand alone.

We are non-partisan about parties and uncompromising about the planet. We hold authorities and industries accountable, protect the people fighting on the front lines, and give every citizen a real way to act.

The caller ID

This is what’s calling.

One stripe per year since 1850. Blue years ran cooler than the 1961–1990 average, red years ran hotter. Read it left to right.

Global mean temperature anomaly, 1850–2024 · HadCRUT5 (approx.) · after Ed Hawkins’ warming stripes

2024 · +1.16 °C

Summary of the data: from 1850 to about 1930 the planet ran roughly 0.2 to 0.5 degrees cooler than the 1961 to 1990 average. Temperatures crossed that average around 1940, dipped slightly, then crossed it for good in the late 1970s. Warming has accelerated since: about +0.3 degrees by the 1980s, +0.6 by the early 2000s, +0.9 by 2016, and roughly +1.1 to +1.2 degrees by 2023 and 2024 — the hottest years in the record.

What we do

Four ways we turn concern into consequence.

Organize

Organize communities

We help ordinary people form local climate cells — neighbours, students, workers, farmers — and turn shared worry into coordinated action.

Confront

Hold power to account

We confront officials and industries that treat the climate as negotiable: documenting harm, demanding answers, and making inaction impossible to ignore.

Protect

Back our activists

Frontline citizens carry real risk. We stand behind them with training, legal support, resources, and a network that has their back.

Amplify

Amplify the truth

We cut through denial and greenwashing — sharing evidence, stories, and science so communities can act on what is actually happening.

How we work

Not a traditional organization. A movement run by its citizens.

Climate Calling is built on active-citizenship: people who don't wait for permission to defend the place they live. We don't manage them from the top — we back them from within.

Start a cell where you live
  • No head office deciding for you

There is no distant leadership handing down orders. Local citizens know their own rivers, forests, air and streets best — so they lead.

  • A network, not a hierarchy

We connect thousands of independent activists and cells into one movement. When one community is threatened, the whole network responds.

  • We equip, you act

Our job is to remove friction: playbooks, tools, funding, legal cover and solidarity — so citizens spend their energy on the fight, not the paperwork.

We stand behind our people

The people fighting for the planet should never fight alone.

Citizen activists face intimidation, legal threats, and burnout. When you act with Climate Calling, you're not exposed on your own — you're part of a network that provides training, legal support, safety resources, and the solidarity of thousands who have your back.

  • Training & playbooks for organizing, campaigns, and safe protest.
  • Legal & safety support when activists are threatened for speaking up.
  • Resources & funding to get local action off the ground fast.
  • A global network that responds when any community is under threat.

Where we work

Local roots. Global reach.

Climate Calling operates through citizen-led communities in many countries around the world — with deep roots in India, where the fight for a livable future is being led by the people living the crisis every day.
